Robot Design

Project Overview

In my final project for ME 104: Mechanical Systems Design, I designed a robot to climb 1.5 m up an I-beam while lifting as large a payload as possible. We began by sketching many different potential ideas. We tested these ideas using back-of-the-envelope analysis, FEA, and 3D printed prototypes in order to refine our final product.

Processes/Tools

SOLIDWORKS, 3D Printing, Motor Characterization, Free Body Diagrams, FEA Diagrams

My Role

I worked on a team with Isaac Garcia, Lina Fowler, Sarayu Pai, and Wren Cooperrider. Together, we brainstormed, conducted back-of-the-envelope analysis, and prototyped ideas. I worked on a detailed analysis of the payload wall.
